WHAT

Maak de Smaak!’ enables dysphagia patients to influence their own meal on food composition, nutrients and presentation. This can all be done via a large touchscreen at the social meetingpoint Het Bord. The meals are printed in the kitchen via a 3D foodprinter and eaten together at an atmospheric table. Afterwards, the dysphagia patients as well as others, can exchange ideas and information for optimization. ‘Maak de Smaak!’ improves all factors of Quality of Life for both mentalitygroups: physical, material, social, emotional and in terms of development and activity.

WHO

There are 48 thousand people in the Netherlands, particularly elderly, who su er from chewing and swallowing problems. Also known as dysphagia. In the upcoming decades this number of people will increase due to aging. For people with dysphagia, it is often only possible to eat fat-liquified foods and drinks. So everything that a person drinks is thickened and everything that a person eats is ground and pampered. Due to reduced taste and presentation of the meal, they can no longer enjoy their meal.

VALUE

The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) is a leader in 3D food printing. In previous years they did a research on how this innovation can contribute to the health and eating experience for people with dysphagia. TNO wants to create value with their innovations, both socially and ecosystemally. By developing innovation for dysphagia patients, TNO can make that effort.
